What do you need to do to start the process?

When you have decided which line or lines interest you, you should gather together all the information which you can easily obtain about that family from Family Sources. Download the Family Tree and Research Request forms. Complete as much as you can of the Family Tree and indicate the surnames of the family lines which you wish us to investigate on the Research Request. Send us these two completed forms and the appropriate fee and we will begin the research.

How far will we extend our knowledge?

In most cases it should be possible to extend the chosen line by an additional three generations beyond what was originally known during a full stage of research. Thus, for example, if you can provide a reasonable amount of information on a chosen surname line back to a great-grandparent, we would expect to learn the names of his or her father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a total of seven generations from you. Similar progress should be made on all chosen lines.

When the research has been completed, you will receive a full Research Report. This will explain how the research was done, which sources were examined and what results were obtained. The Report will include copies or abstracts of all the relevant documentation found. A Pedigree will provide a visual presentation of what your family tree now looks like.
